We celebrated big for Mexico's independence day. I'm going to tell most of the story through pictures, but to give you a brief summary of the festivities....We started out with a party in Peter's apartment. We had about 50 students show-up between the RUF group and the English Club. We ate Pozole (traditional Independence day food) and played games. Then we headed to our home church for MORE food, a Mariachi band, and "fair" type games and crafts. Then we headed downtown at 11pm for the "grito" (which means "shout"). The president says "Viva" and we all say "Mexico". We repeat this process 10 times then there are AWESOME fireworks!
Downtown for the "grito"
We all got married at a "booth" in the church...apparently this is common on independence day.
